A Betrayal of Pride: Casual Manoeuvres

Unexpectedly my gracious neighbour, Pink, has agreed to my plan and has sent off a fleet to take those Systems on my behalf. It seems that light blue has the same idea and is trying to take them for himself. Light blue has also made incursions into Pink’s territory. It is very early in the game for such things. The weapons tech of each player is still low and so fights are always costly, more so than the mid game because production is also often pretty low at this point and it takes a long to recover the ships lost in conflicts.

War is coming...

Light blue is growing worryingly big though, and that is bad news for both me and pink. Over time, if we don’t address it, he will swallow us both, grinding us down with sheer weight of numbers. We have to act soon. So I send a message offering Pink military help, I gather as large a force as I can on my boarder and wait for my hyperspace research to bring results, I will attack light blue with all I have, and hope I can hold out against any counter attack.

I collect everything I have, very little, in preparation to strike.

This might seem a strangely risky plan, and it is, but for the ace I perceived to have in my pocket. The largest empire to the north, was the Orange player. Maybe I could persuade them to join the fray as well, and attack the upstart Light Blues on three sides? It is probably the only hope I have.
