When I think about it, I knew what was troubling me. Have you ever walked down the street and found there is an eerie silence. You don't know it is odds but, strangely, the silence stands out. Then eventually you realise that you can not hear the sound of a car engine and that is what makes the quite so odd... the silence is too silent. Its a similar thing with Joe. What I realise now is that Joe just wasn't that happy.
In the last post I explained why Joe was so content with his situation. His traits lead him to love a quiet solitary life in the outdoors. When Tamara came on the scene she shattered that. Joe's mood was no longer boosted by being alone for example, or being in the garden. He was no longer receiving a steady stream of lifetime happiness points for being such a joyful person. Tamara has also altered Joe's wishes too. He used to wish for better plants, bigger fish or more produce and our constant gardening and fishing would frequently grant him these wishes. But now he dreams of Tamara; wants to talk to Tamara; kiss Tamara even. That's all well and good but we are still constantly gardening and fishing, so while we get a few bonuses from socialising with Tamara they are no where near as frequent and as lucrative. To illustrate the point, I have made a new, slightly more complex graph.
Joe met Tamara just before midday on day 10. They pretty much spent the rest of the day together. Day 11 and 12 they also spent together. On these three days there was a massive drop on how much happiness Joe was accumulating. If it continues at those levels we won't succeed in our challenge. Okay, I know a statistical field of three is not enough to make real predictions but I don't have enough time to wait and see if the last three days will be typical of the time they spend together. I have a challenge to complete!
I make a difficult choice. I decide Joe is no longer allowed to see Tamara. We have a quest to complete... its for the good of science... don't judge me!

Day thirteen begins the new regime. Joe's first wish of the day is to kiss Tamara... little bugger. He is trying to make me feel bad. The breakfast routine is standard. Get up, make pancakes, start fire... sigh. Instead of calling the achingly slow fire brigade I make Joe put it out instead. The cooker is wrecked once again though. I am really going to have to buy a new one. I send Joe to the toilet which promptly gets blocked. Finally he has a shower, which springs a leak... Right okay, it seems fate wanted Tamara and Joe together and now I've pissed off fate... well I'm sorry but I have a challenge to finish... does no-one care about my challenge? Am I a bad person?
I feel guilty...
